Support

If an alarm did not ring, the cause is almost always an expired calendar connection or alarm permission being turned off. Both take a minute to fix, and the questions below show you how. For anything else, email us.

If an alarm did not ring, mentioning roughly when the meeting was and which calendar it came from makes it much faster to work out what happened.

Common questions

Do alarms ring when my phone is on silent?

Yes. That is the entire point. Chimely schedules genuine system alarms rather than notifications, so they ring through silent mode and through Focus. If yours are not, alarm permission was most likely denied — check Settings › Chimely.

I moved a meeting. Will the alarm follow?

Yes, usually within about a minute, without you opening the app. If your phone has been offline or in low power mode for a long stretch, opening Chimely brings it up to date immediately.

Can I stop alarms for a while?

Yes. Pause from the Settings tab, for a stretch of days or until you turn it back on. No alarms go off while it is paused, and your rules are waiting unchanged when you resume.

Why did a meeting not get an alarm?

Chimely deliberately stays quiet for meetings you declined, all-day events, cancelled events, and calendars you have not switched on. It also limits how many alarms it schedules at once, filling the nearest ones first, so something a fortnight out may not be armed yet. It will be by the time it matters.

Can Chimely change my calendar?

No. It holds read-only permission, so creating, editing, or deleting an event is not something it is able to do.

An alarm did not ring.

Open Chimely and go to Settings › Manage calendars. If a calendar connection has expired, the account shows a warning with a Reconnect button — this is the most common cause, and reconnecting fixes it immediately. If there is no warning, check Settings › Chimely in the iPhone Settings app and confirm that both notifications and alarms are allowed.

Chimely says it needs me to reconnect my calendar.

Google grants expire, and they are also revoked if you change your Google password or remove Chimely from your account permissions. Nothing is lost when this happens — your rules and settings stay exactly as they were. Go to Settings › Manage calendars, tap Reconnect on that account, and sign in again. There is no need to disconnect it first.

How do I delete my account?

In the app, under Settings. This removes your profile, connected calendars, stored events, alarm rules, and devices. It is immediate and cannot be undone. Email support if you would rather we did it for you.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Through your Apple ID subscription settings on your iPhone, the same as any other App Store subscription. Chimely keeps working until the period you have paid for ends.
